Today, we’re introducing Elisa from Portugal, whose passion for football has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember—whether playing on the field or cheering from the sidelines.
In May 2024, Elisa joined FFWU’s Communications team, where she plays a key role in sharing our mission, achievements, and important updates with the world through social media.
In this interview you will learn more about Elisa’s journey, her role at FFWU, and what she hopes to achieve!
Elisa, why did you decide to start volunteering?
“I always wanted to volunteer somewhere, but when I was looking for opportunities to start, I was also taking a master’s degree, so I couldn’t really volunteer physically. That’s when I found FFWU! I could volunteer online, using what I was learning and what I want to work in the future for a good cause!”
What inspired you to volunteer with FFWU?
“Being an organization related to football was probably the main reason for me to want to volunteer with FFWU. Then, seeing the impact of FFWU, how they work with the coaches in the different countries made me feel very inspired. I’ve played, watched, and loved football since I can remember. So, being part of an organization like FFWU and knowing that, somehow, I am helping making a difference, felt like a great idea.”
What are you currently working on?
“Right now I am working on building sort of an idea of what FFWU is and who is part of it, in Social Media. My goal is for everyone to get to know FFWU and its amazing impact and get inspired to be part of it!”

How do you personally align with FFWU’s mission, and how does it influence your work here?
“I’ve seen and heard so many stories on how football created a positive change to so many people and so many communities, not only as in a physical sport, but also in the mental and social development. I believe FFWU has been doing a great job equipping coaches with the right tools to use football for a social change and it inspires me everyday.”
What do you like most about volunteering with FFWU?
“Working with so inspiring, nice and fun people. Every meeting is more than just a work related meeting, it’s a conversation where we learn and discuss ideas for FFWU. All the stories and conversations makes me feel always inspired and motivated to work!”
How do you envision FFWU evolving in the next few years, and what role do you hope to play in that journey?
“My hopes is that FFWU gets the recognition that it deserves from more people and, of course, that we continue teaching the Sharing Goals methodology and inspiring more people. I hope I can continue to create content that shows our impact and continue to support the team in any way I can.”
